At some point during the fall of 2005 I took a week off of work and more or less locked myself in a 10’x10’ room surrounded by a drum kit, various guitars, amps, an organ, a glockenspiel, an eight track and a few microphones in the middle along with some odds and ends. The vast majority of the songs were recorded or at least had foundations laid down for during this weeklong period and I then spent the following months finishing things up, mixing and mastering.

The name comes from the place I recorded it which in my mind helped the overall process. With instruments strewn about the room only a small amount of space was available in the middle of the room and this made switching instruments rather easy and sessions went on for lengthy but very productive periods of time.

The songs that Nick helped out on, with the exception of malachi constant which I had written prior to recording, came about in a very stream of consciences kind of way. Basically we made the stuff up as we went along and then added onto it with whatever we felt necessary. The songs then took on new life during the mixing process as well creating something neither of us had intended but probably better then if we had tried to make something that sounded cool. This would be the first proper full-length album of mine with full band arrangements instead of guitar driven music without percussion.
