While volume 2 was suppose to be studio recordings the songs were still for the most part recorded live. For volume 3 I strove to create something that was truly a studio project. To achieve this the songs were striped down to their basic elements, which were then recorded one at a time. The result is sometimes a little congested (multiple drum parts, excessive feedback, etc.) but the songs are more complete then they would be in a live performance. I used the basic ideas for each song and then found new things to add in. The recording of these songs happened about a week after I lost my practice space and I felt driven to get the recordings done fast while the songs were still fresh in my mind. In all I am most pleased to say that this is my favorite in the solo percussion series. While I like the way volume 2 turned out I feel that it focuses almost too much on straightforward song structures and rhythms while volume 3 showcases more stream of consciousness song ideas.
